At Keap I founded the DesignOps team and placed a focus on driving more efficiency into our design organization, as well as our design system. I placed a senior designer over the DesignOps team who drove the day-to-day work of getting our library packs, templates, and documentation up and running, as well as working directly with engineers for implementation. Another big portion was standardizing our tools and processes to ensure we were operating efficiently and effectively across all of our feature teams. Below is a glimpse into some of our design system documentation. At Keap my team revamped our hiring process. We weren’t getting the right talent in the door, so we applied design thinking to our problems. We treated our hiring process as if it were a product and we iterated quickly, learned from candidates coming through our process, and made adjustments as needed. We changed who we were targeting, how we were targeting them, as well as our entire interview process. What was the end result? Candidates loved going through our process. Not only were we getting top-tier design candidates, but they were leaving our interviews impressed and wanting more. Below is one sample of a document we started providing for onsite interviews to ensure we maximized our time with candidates and that they were coming into the interview comfortable and ready. Another major initiative as part of DesignOps was to create our product design playbook. This is a site that guides existing and new designers into our tools, processes, and any other standard operating procedures such as working remotely.Design System
